According to the American Cancer Society more than 10 million Americans are currently living with, through or beyond cancer. More than 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Of adults diagnosed with cancer today, 64% will be living five years from now. One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Three in four families will care for a family member with cancer.
Recent studies have overwhelmingly concluded that exercise has a positive effect on cancer patient's overall health and well-being. Available to patients who are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment or recovering from the effects of cancer, the program strives to give individuals a greater sense of control over their recovery process.
We are proud to provide RISE, a unique Cancer Fitness Program available only through the Courthouse Athletic Club. This six week program consists of two group exercise classes per week along with valuable one-on-one assessments and exercise prescription.
Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment where we can help patients increase strength, balance, flexibility and add ease to everyday activities. We also aim to help patients decrease anxiety, improve confidence, increase energy and boost immune function.
All classes are run by Nancy Baldwin, a certified Cancer Exercise Specialist, at the Keizer Club. Class size is limited.
New classes forming weekly. Call or e-mail Nancy Baldwin for exact dates and times.
The cost is $99 for members, $199 for non-members.
